Delete your account and data

Short answer

Deleting your MailOver account schedules it for removal and signs you out, and a Stripe subscription is cancelled right away. You have about 30 days to change your mind: sign back in during that window and your account comes back. After that, your synced email and connected accounts are permanently deleted and the rest is anonymized, while billing records are kept as the law requires. An Apple or Google subscription must be cancelled in that store. Your original email always stays in your provider, so export first if you want a copy.

Three different things called "delete"

It is worth being clear about which one you want, because they are very different in scope.

Disconnect an email account
Pauses processing for one inbox and keeps its data. Fully reversible. See Disconnect an email account.
Delete an email account from MailOver
Removes one inbox from the app. The rest of your MailOver account stays as it is.
Delete your MailOver account
The full wipe covered on this page. Removes every connected inbox, all extracted data, and your login.

What deleting your account removes

Deleting your MailOver account schedules it for removal. For about 30 days it can still be restored by signing back in. After that grace period the cleanup runs: your synced email content and connected accounts are permanently deleted, and the rest, your Action Items, reminders, Highlights, FYIs, briefings, agent memories, and conversations, is anonymized so it can no longer be traced back to you. Billing and credit records are kept for as long as the law requires. The email content was held under zero-access encryption, so once it is deleted there is no way to read it. Your real mail was never moved out of Gmail, Outlook, or your IMAP provider, and it stays there exactly as before.

Delete your account, step by step

1

Export first if you want a copy. Once the grace period passes, deletion is permanent. Run a one-click export so you keep your data. See Export your data.

2

Open Settings and choose Delete account. Go to Settings, find the account or privacy section, and select Delete account.

Settings · Account
Permanently delete your account and all of your data.

3

Confirm. Once you confirm, MailOver schedules your account for deletion and signs you out. You have about 30 days to undo it by signing back in. After that, it is permanent.

What happens to your subscription

If you subscribed on the web through Stripe, deleting your account cancels that subscription automatically, so there is nothing else for you to do. If you subscribed through Apple or Google in the mobile app, that store controls the billing and MailOver cannot cancel it for you. You need to cancel it yourself in the App Store or Google Play, otherwise it keeps renewing even after your data is gone. See how to cancel your subscription for the exact steps in each store.

Just want to step away for a while?

If you are not sure you want to leave for good, you do not have to delete anything. Disconnect your inboxes to pause processing and keep your data, then reconnect whenever you come back. Deletion is only for when you want everything gone.
